Patrick E. Kenny, EdD, RN, ACRN, NE-BC, APRN-PMH
Dr. Kenny is an Assistant professor in the Department of Nursing and Health. Dr. Kenny currently teaches courses in the undergraduate curriculum. He is certified as an HIV/AIDS Registered Nurse and is also certified in Gerontological Nursing and Nursing Administration. Dr. Kenny maintains active clinical practice in Hospice Nursing. His clinical expertise includes mental health nursing, Gerontological nursing, nursing administration and hospice nursing.
Dr. Kenny's research interests include the history on nursing, and in particular, the history of men in nursing. He has presented nationally on the topic. His doctoral dissertation was "To Know and to Serve": The History of the Pennsylvania Hospital Training School for male nurses of the Department for Mental and Nervous Diseases, 1914-1965."
Dr. Kenny serves as President of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. He is also involved with a number of nursing and healthcare organizations. He serves as a Secretary for the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, as a Treasurer for The Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society, and serves as Treasurer for Mu Omicron Chapter at DeSales University, Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. Kenny received his BSN from Allentown College of Francis DeSales (now DeSales University), his MSN from the University of Pennsylvania in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing, and his doctorate in Education with a major in Nursing Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
